Healthy Diet Asian Style

A healthy diet plan may also involve traditional Asian diet menus.  This diet may offer several health benefits.  Certainly, an Asian diet is one of the healthiest diet plans which anyone may want to undertake. 

Some years ago, the Asian diet plan for weight loss was not well recognized, but it is gaining popularity today.  More and more people in the western world is now starting to comprehend the several health benefits offered by the conventional Asian diet.  This is primarily due to the idea that contemporary western diet fails to give what a healthy and good diet should deliver.  

These health benefits include natural healing, development of vigorous immune system, fitness, freedom from illness, natural regulation of weight (lasting fat loss), youthful appearance, and long life (longevity).

One of the best dishes one may want to include in the Asian diet takes in Wasabi and Panko-crusted Pork with Gingered Soy Sauce. Panko …. white coarse breadcrumbs are used easily and quickly when preparing the Tonkatsu .... a Japanese dish.   

One may look for wasabi paste and panko within the ethnic or international foods section of a local supermarket , or check a health food store for the product.

One may use chicken broth as a replacement if there is no  sherry or sake on hand. 

This healthy diet dish may be served with steamed snow peas, carrots and rice for a whole meal.

Pork Chops With Panko Crusts


2/3 cup panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)

1 large egg (white beaten lightly)

4 ounce center-cut boneless loin pork chops (½ inch thick)

2 Tbsp olive oil

1 Tbsp grated ginger

2 Tbsp dry sherry 

1/3 cup sodium free/fat free chicken broth

2 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce

1 Tsp wasabi paste

2 Tsp brown sugar (flattened)

1/3 green onion cup (chopped)

Herbal seasoning (1/2 Tsp each rosemary, basil, sage, parsley)

Pinch of salt


Trim fat from pork chops

Rub herbal seasoning and salt on to pork chops.  

(Lay aside) 

Separate yolk and egg white 

Beat egg white lightly 

Brush egg white on top of pork chops

Put 2 Tbsp oil in a frying pan and heat on medium setting

Add pork chops to oil and cook until golden brown

Turn pork chops on to the other side and cook until golden brown

Mix soy sauce and sugar with chicken broth

Pour mixture over pork chops, sprinkle ginger on top

Cook until almost tender

Add chopped green onions

Mix sherry and wasabi paste together

Pour over pork chops 

Reduce heat to medium low

Let simmer until chops are soft and tender 

Put panko (breadcrumbs) on top

Serve hot
